polyurethane foam and found objects
Unique piece.
Adami's series "Fossili Moderni" (Modern Fossils) is a series of unique works created with found objects which are hand-selected by the artist. In 2009, his work "Fossili Moderni" was included in the permanent collection of the Triennale Design Museum in Milan, following his solo exhibition "Magma Fossile" curated by Stefano Maffei.
Massimiliano discussed the series in an interview in
Interni Magazine -
The Fossili Moderni could be seen as a project-manifesto on sustainability and the philosophy of recycling. Actually they didnt start with that specific aim, though I like to think they can stimulate more general reflection in this direction. The Fossili came from the idea of a container, to store objects, but made of objects. At the time I was working on the staff of a company that made retail display fixtures. I wanted to participate in a design competition and I got this idea, which I immediately tried out during lunch break, opening a trash can, taking out some plastic objects, embedding them in a foam which I then cut in half. That was the start of a path that then evolved, in technical refinements, until 2005, with the exhibit at the Salone Satellite, which started my adventure as a designer.Inquiries:
