Oskar Zieta graduated in Architecture from the University of Technology in Szczecin, Poland, in 2000. After graduation, Mr. Zieta participated in the scholarship program at the the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zürich (ETH), continuing his post-graduate studies in Computer Aided Architectural Design (CAAD). Since 2003, Zieta has been working as a research associate and teaching assistant in the CAAD department at the ETH and writing his doctorate thesis on the involvement of computer-controlled machines in processing sheet metal. It was through his research at CAAD that the FiDU (free inner pressure deformation) process was developed. In 2007, he founded his design company Zieta Prozessdesign and a sister company, Steelwerk Polska, for the production of CNC - computer numerical control - processed and inflated steel objects.

Oskar Zieta’s Plopp stool won the Red Dot Design Award and the YDMI Award in 2008, and the Federal Republic of Germany Award in 2009. His work can be found in the collections of the Karlsruhe Baden State Museum, the HGKZ Museum in Zürich, the Pinakothek der Modern in Munich, and the Centres Pompidou in Paris.
