By mixing the classical motifs and form expressed in the Traditional flower pyramid and new contemporary design motifs, forms and materials Jongerius established a visual transition between decorative arts and modern design, an ideology that has become a signature found throughout her work. She pierced the form near the top to create the impression of an airiness and delicacy not expressed in the Traditional pyramid. Additions of a handle and the straps allow the form to be mobile further connecting it to functional modern design. She integrated "common" modern material such as tape and metal with the delicate porcelain, a highly prized and very traditional material providing further juxtaposition.
