Layers is a series of monumental assemblages created by Hella Jongerius for Moss

Riffing on her new, elaborately constructed textiles, Layers, created in collaboration with Maharam, Jongerius constructs five one-off domestic "Interior Fragments", incorporating into these multi-media works not only first prototypes of the fabric, but also traditional Dutch woodwork, cast bronze, and large-scale ceramics.

Hella Jongerius’s Polder sofa, which she designed for Vitra in 2005, is upholstered in multi-patterned one-off prototypes of her new Layers textiles, developed over the past three years in collaboration with Maharam. She combines this seating element with an integrated table with drawer, which serves also as a pedestal for supporting her monumental pink earthenware Jackpot vase, hung with a large cast bronze medallion.
