Perished was conceived as a suite of furniture, including a table, traditional Dutch ‘bench’, screen, and pedestal, realized in precious hardened tropical woods, decorated with laser-cut inlays depicting animal skeletons, and assembled by expert craftsmen.

The Pedestal displays a cast bronze plate depicting, along with various other symbolic and iconic images, the cockroach, ancient survivor which refuses to perish.

"Perished" has been shown extensively since its 2006 debut at the Salone del Mobile in Milan. Moss has presented pieces from the suite at Dutch Masters and STUDIO JOB 2006-2008: works in paper / bronze / wood / clay as well as at Moss Los Angeles for Glitter & Smoke and Design Miami / 2006 and Design Miami/Basel 2008. Other important exhibitions include Telling Tales, at the Victoria & Albert Museum, London, Alter Ego at Gaasbeek Castle, Belgium and the retrospective Bold Designhuis Museum, Eindhoven, Netherlands.
