Still Life is a series of five hand painted works which were created by Studio Job in collaboration with the legendary Dutch porcelain manufactory Tichelaar Makkum. "Still Life" made its highly successful debut at the 2004 Salone del Mobile in Milan. Job Smeets choose to reinterpret five archetypical shapes from the existing collection: the piggy bank, a clock, a vase, a box and a flat candlestick. The five hand painted artifacts were produced in white, with accents in transfer technique.
Each piece is numbered from a limited series of 250 pieces.
The Still Life series was included and exhibited in
European Design Since 1985: Shaping the New Century curated by R. Craig Miller. The exhibition opened at the Indianapolis Museum of Art and will travel to Denver Art Museum, Kingston University, London, High Museum in Atlanta and other museums in the United States and possibly Europe and Asia.
